Category: 💛 Legacy Love

As the daughter of basketball legend Billy Cunningham, I’ve created this collection of NBA memories to honor the love and legacy that shaped our family’s story. Legacy Love celebrates our shared journey—from his childhood beginnings and high school days at Erasmus Hall to his collegiate career at UNC-Chapel Hill, and throughout his NBA years as a Philadelphia 76ers star player, championship coach, franchise owner, and CBS commentator. Through rare photographs, memorabilia, and heartfelt reflections, I celebrate both my father’s extraordinary career and the bond that keeps his legacy alive across generations.

Billy C once flubbed a live sports report — and turned it into a family lesson in humor and grace. Even legends have bad weather days.

Meet Stephanie

I’m Stephanie Ortiz, a storyteller–like a professional organizer; only I use words instead of boxes. I’ve written fiction and nonfiction since being a journalism major at UNC-Chapel Hill–before there were iPhones, to know a story when it hits me. And whenever I need a muse, there’s always real life to draw from.
